In the afternoon I had an absolutely marvellous flight with Daniel. We bombed up to Grahamstown and it's desolate airport for the first time. The airfield altitude is a few thousand feet higher, and gave an excellent demonstration of difference in aircraft handling. After a couple of crosswind landings on it's tarmac runway, we headed back towards Port Alfred over the mountainous terrain at low level. An excellent tonic after the morning flight's monotony.
Managed to get in contact with BA. It's costing me £97 to delay the flight to the 26th, and I'll confirm this with them tomorrow. This gives me an extra seventeen days in sunny SA, in which time I'll hopefully fly all of my hours. To be honest, I am keen to get home and meet with family and friends, but the opportunity to fly more hours that would be otherwise lost cannot be passed up.

Hi Rich,
Excellent news about the extra time in SA. BA got it's finger out, then! Flying sounds good. Just read in RAF News abouit a young lady who is coming out to Port Alfred on the scheme. She was presented at RIAT this year (one bit that didn't get cancelled). Hope they sort out the SPL for her.
We are right with you. Nothing to rush back here for - it's been raining for the last fortnight. Enjoy the sun while you can. Apparently September is due to be better weather so might be worth coming back then!!
Best wishes and keep smilin'
Dudley and Brenda
