As I was getting ready I got a text from Daniel. He'd sorted two sim slots with Scott for me. I went on down and met Scott, and soon enough we were in Alpha-Lima-Foxtrot; the smallest of the simulators.

Alpha-Lima-Foxtrot doesn't have any horizon and only an instrument panel. Scott started by getting me to do a series of turns, climbs and descents. It was fairly difficult to do properly - the controls aren't easy to move and with my lack of strength, small and smooth movements weren't easy. Soon enough I landed without even knowing it!

After lunch I went for my next slot. Scott and Daniel tested me with a few questions about the gyroscopic instruments, before me and Scott went back to Alpha-Lima-Foxtrot. This time we did much of the same as before. I have apparently improved, hopefully the last three hours sim time left will help me get the knack of instrument flying.

This evening there was a massive thunderstorm. After dinner I thought I saw the sky light up momentarily, then soon enough all of the bad weather from Port Elizabeth headed towards us. Trying to photograph lightning was a fruitless exercise!
