[Relaxing after a hot and hard day's flying. Me, Uzo and Neale.]

We started Meteorology in GS today. It seems more of a memory subject and easier than the previous subjects. Clouds, winds and hemispheres are the most part of it so far.

When GS was finished I went to Ops, to find no flight scheduled for me. I tracked down Daniel, who said that we can fly at 13:00, which was later changed to 15:00 because Echo-Echo-Golf wasn't available at that time. Then we found that Echo-Echo-Golf was detailed for instructor training at 15:00. Daniel managed to speak to the pilots involved and changed aircraft.

After lunch I headed to the Aircraft Maintenance Office and asked an engineer if any other Cherokee 140's had the illusive "extra notch" in it's seat rails. He said that there were a couple, but he didn't know which ones. I'll try and hunt down the others over the next few days. I spoke with one of the Indian fellas in our class and he said that his instructor allows him to fly a 180 instead, which has more room. So that might also be an option.

Reported to Daniel at 15:00, only to find that Echo-Echo-Golf was at the AMO, with the complaint of a "floppy rudder"! We strolled up to it and found a screwdriver and gloves on the stabilator - never a good sign! The very same engineer I spoke to earlier emerged and told us that he's checked all of the rigging thoroughly and couldn't find a problem. We duly took the aircraft into a brilliantly calm air and began practicing circuits. It was far more comfortable today and I dare say that I performed a lot better. Practice does make perfect and luckily I improved as we continued to do around 4 touch and go's before a full stop landing. Daniel seemed quite pleased with my flying and alluded to great things before the week is through. Tomorrow we are going to do forced landings, which should be very challenging indeed!

Hi Rich,

Missed yesterday's and have just caught up. Nihil Illegitimi carborundum.

Flying sounds as though it's going well, though.

Best wishes,

Dudley and Brenda.

Hi Rich, Good to see you are making good progress on your drinking course. When does the flying start then? (hic)
